I am Doctor in law, I did a thesis in Private international law with a subject in family law. Since 20 years, I am a lawyer at the Paris Bar with an activity dedicated on international family law. I am also a redactor for a Family law review called “Actualité juridique famille” in which I am in charge of the articles or comments of decision related to private international law. I have participated to few books in international law and especially “droit and pratique du divorce” in which I have written the chapters related to private international law with one on child abduction.
I made a lot conferences or trainings for lawyers and judges in France and abroad.
I am a fellow of the IAFL and of Comité Français de droit international privé.
Relevant experiences and positions
Since 2020, I am working in firm doing exclusively family law and international family law. I have been founding partner of a law firm in, 2010 and I have created my boutique firm in 2015.
I am extremely involved ion international family law, for example I have participated to the elaboration of the practice guide on the Brussels II revised regulation. I have participated to few books in international law and especially “droit and pratique du divorce” in which I have written the chapters related to private international law with one on child abduction. I have been very involved on this topic in France and international through my articles or my conference of training. I have been in Russia with the French Ministry of justice to trained Russian judges.
Since the beginning of my practice I have had a lot of child abduction cases.
I am also trained to mediation and arbitration.
Some personal questions
What is your opinion on the law / case law on child relocation in your country?
My jurisdiction is very difficult on relocation case, it depends a lot from a judge to another. But this is often Russian roulette cases.
Why is it interesting for you as a lawyer to work on these cases?
They are very difficult case on the human and psychological side. In terms of law, there are very technical and straightforward case.
What do you think is important to do or not do as an attorney in child abduction cases?
As attorney in child abduction case, I normally do not take cases in defense (for the abducting parents) except if it concerns a question about the habitual residence, the right of custody. I think it is very important to think about what will occur after the Hague case and a defense on article 13b often destroyed the relations between the parents.
What do you think all people should know about child abduction cases?
They should know that this is a non-sense and they should try to find an amicable solution for the best interest of their child.
Do you advice parents to file criminal charges in case of child abduction?
No never it is on my point of view counterproductive unless if he or she ignore where is the child.
